My name is Libby Mitchell and I am a junior at Davidson College with a passion for biology. I had the idea for this club after working as a camp counselor at Aurora Day Camp for 3 summers. One of the activities that the kids can choose to do is STEM, and I was surprised by how much the kids loved this activity even though it is also a school subject. I wanted think of a way to bring a similarly fun STEM program to Davidson and the result was Girls in STEM. I grew up going to all girls schools and really valued this as a part of my educational growth. I wanted to bring this opportunity to girls in the Davidson community and felt that combining my passion for girls’ education with my love for STEM would be the perfect way to make an impact.
I am so excited to get to know all of the volunteers and girls through this club and see what it grows into!
